Gonewatch ("we", "us") provides heartbeat monitoring for developers. This policy describes what information we collect when you use our website and service, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide and data generated by use of the service:
- Account information — email address and password when you register, or profile details if you sign in with a third-party provider (such as Google).
- Monitor configuration — monitor names, intervals, grace periods, and notification preferences you set in the dashboard.
- Heartbeat data — timestamps when your jobs POST to a heartbeat URL, and any optional payload you send with a ping.
- Billing information — subscription plan and payment status. Payment card details are processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers.
- Feedback — message content and optional email address if you contact us through the feedback form.
- Technical data — basic server logs (such as IP address and user agent) used for security, abuse prevention, and operating the service.
- Website analytics — anonymized page views, referring sites, country, and device type, collected by our hosting provider (Vercel Web Analytics). This does not use cookies and is not used to identify you or to advertise.
How we use information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve Gonewatch
- Detect missed heartbeats and send alerts
- Manage accounts, billing, and support requests
- Prevent abuse and protect the security of the service
- Understand which public pages are used and how people find the site
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising.
Third-party services
We use service providers to operate Gonewatch — for example, hosting, authentication, email delivery, payment processing, and website analytics. These providers process data on our behalf only as needed to provide the service, under contractual obligations to protect your information.
Website analytics are provided by Vercel. They store anonymized traffic data (not a persistent visitor profile) and do not use cookies for this product. See Vercel's Web Analytics privacy documentation.
If you connect Slack, Discord, or Telegram, we store what is needed to post Down, recovery, and reminder alerts to the destination you chose (for Telegram, that is the chat id — not a personal Telegram password). We do not use those connections for anything else.
If you sign in with Google, Google's privacy policy applies to information handled by Google during authentication.
Data retention
We retain account and monitor data while your account is active. Status history is retained according to your plan limits. If you delete your account or cancel a subscription, we delete or anonymize associated data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain records for legal, security, or billing purposes.
Your choices
- You can update profile details and manage monitors from your dashboard.
- You can manage or cancel paid subscriptions through our billing portal.
- You can contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest, including access controls and encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above.
