Terms of Service
Last updated: August 16, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Gonewatch ("we", "us"), including our website and heartbeat monitoring service (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information.
The Service
Gonewatch lets you create monitors for expected events, receive heartbeats from your jobs, and get alerted when a heartbeat does not arrive within the interval and grace period you configure.
Current plan limits, features, and prices are described on the pricing page. We may change plans, limits, or features over time.
Accounts
You must provide a valid email address and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
You may sign in with email and password or with a supported third-party provider such as Google. If you use Google sign-in, Google's terms and privacy policy apply to the authentication process.
The Service is intended for people who can form a binding contract. If you use Gonewatch on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Probe, scan, or disrupt the Service, or attempt to bypass authentication, rate limits, or plan limits
- Use the Service to send spam, malware, or unlawful content, or to monitor systems you are not authorized to operate
- Share heartbeat URLs publicly or in a way that lets others spoof or disrupt your monitors
- Reverse engineer, resell, or misuse the Service except as allowed by law
We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the Service, create excessive load, or violate these Terms.
Your monitors and data
You retain rights to the configuration and heartbeat data you send to Gonewatch. You grant us a limited license to process that data solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service — for example, recording pings, evaluating monitor state, and sending alerts.
Heartbeat endpoints are unauthenticated by design so your jobs can ping them. Anyone who has a heartbeat URL can record a ping for that monitor. Treat those URLs as secrets.
Paid plans and billing
Paid plans are billed through our payment provider (Stripe). By upgrading, you authorize recurring charges for the plan and billing interval you select until you cancel.
You can manage or cancel a subscription through the billing portal in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless otherwise stated at checkout. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.
If a payment fails or a subscription lapses, we may downgrade your account to the free plan and enforce that plan's limits. Taxes may apply depending on your location.
Alerts and availability
We work to run checks and deliver alerts promptly, but the Service is provided as-is. Delivery of email (or other) notifications depends on third-party providers and is not guaranteed. Gonewatch is not a substitute for on-call systems where missed alerts could cause harm.
We do not promise uninterrupted uptime, a specific response time, or that checks will run at an exact interval. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service with reasonable notice when practical.
Intellectual property
Gonewatch, including its name, logos, website, and software, is owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you rights to our trademarks or source code except the limited right to use the Service as provided.
Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times, or that alerts will always arrive.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty U.S. dollars if you are on a free plan.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service.
Provisions that by their nature should survive — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and paid-plan charges already incurred — survive termination.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
