Telegram

Telegram is not a webhook you paste, and it is not Discord-style OAuth. You connect the official Gonewatch bot from Account. Telegram then tells us which chat to message.

Private chat first

1. Open Account and choose Connect Telegram.
2. Telegram opens a chat with the Gonewatch bot. Tap Start.
3. The bot replies that Gonewatch is connected. Account updates to show that chat. You can send a test message from Account.
4. Edit each monitor and enable Telegram. Connecting does not turn it on for monitors you already created.

The Start link expires after about ten minutes. If nothing happens, tap Connect Telegram again.

Optional: use a group

1. Finish the private-chat steps above first.
2. On Account, choose Use a group instead (or Switch group if a group is already connected). You can also use the button in the bot’s confirmation message.
3. Pick a group in Telegram. The bot is added to that group.
4. Alerts move to the group. One Telegram destination per Gonewatch account — a private chat or one group, not both at once.

Telegram channels (broadcast feeds) are not supported. The bot must be a member of the group; it does not need to be an admin.

Alerts in the chat

Down, still-Down reminders, and recovery post in the connected chat. Each alert includes a View monitor button under the message. Recovery only sends if the monitor was Down, then received a heartbeat — an Overdue ping going back to Up does not.

Disconnect

• Disconnect on Account clears Telegram on every monitor. If the destination was a group, the bot leaves that group. A private chat stays in Telegram until you delete or block it — the bot cannot close a DM.
• Send /stop in the connected chat.
• Kick the bot from a group, or block it in a private chat. We drop the connection when Telegram tells us.
